Hi there – My name is Marco Jongenelis currently a Technical Artist at Soltegro. In 2015 I graduated from the NHTV, Breda University of Applied Sciences. Here I followed the study International Game Architecture and Design (IGAD). Ever since I was a little kid I’ve had a passion for tech and games.
Before I went to IGAD I was a student at the ROC Zoomvliet, in Roosendaal, The Netherlands. Here I graduated as an interactive media designer. After I graduated I started my own company called Tryser Interactive in 2008. I’ve worked as a freelancer for about 10 years. As a freelancer I mainly worked in small teams on many different projects ranging from webdesign and developement to creating virtual / augmented reality experiences. By working in many small teams it meant taking up responsibility for multiple tasks. Usually I was in a more technical position, creating interactivity, tooling to help out the team and building the final application. Because of my 3D art background I was also able to help out with modelling, texturing, lighting and making sure the final composition looked good.
Next to my freelance work I love doing all sorts of things game related, especially the technical things that have to do with art. Don’t get me wrong I can still loose myself in modelling something nice and adding every little detail but I find it more challenging to combine art with something technical for example shaders or developing tooling or a specific pipeline.
At Soltegro I am also part of a small innovation team. We work on many different projects ranging from visualisations, virtual / augmented reality applications to digital twins. The digital twin projects I work on took multiple years of development and are a nice challange between art, coding, tooling and system integration. While working at Soltegro a colleague and I worked on developing a digital twin platform (TwinSight). This platform was build on the Unity game engine and consists out of multiple packages which can be loaded through the Unity Package Manager. These packages make it easier to setup a basic digital twin from scratch.
I could ramble on for a while here but that’s what I have my blog for. For now, if you like to contact me you can send me a mail at MJongenelis@gmail.com and if you’d like to know more of my skillset click on my CV or pay a visit to my LinkedIn page.
